Welcome letter

Dear collegues,

We are very happy to invite you to the ‘4th one-day course of the Belgian Dermoscopy Group on January 13, 2023 in Gent.

The previous editions in 2014, 2016 and 2018, have been a big success, thanks to great lectures and your numerous presence. The 4th edition had to be postponed twice because of covid, but now we are ready again to make it an instructive experience! The goal of the course is to finetune and extend your knowledge of dermoscopy.

We are very happy to announce that Prof. Luc Thomas from Lyon, and Prof. Aimillios Lallas from Thessaloniki, both renowned for their contribution in the field of dermoscopy, have accepted to give a key lecture. Prof. Thomas will focus on the management of pigmented lesions, and Prof. Lallas on non-pigmented lesions.
Prof. Garmyn from Leuven will give us a view on expected developments in dermoscopy the following years. Do we already have an idea about the role of artificial intelligence in dermoscopical diagnosis?

Dermoscopy has become a daily tool in a dermatogical practice. It is not only helpful in the diagnosis of tumors, but also in inflammatory and hair diseases. In this one-day course, you will get some new diagnostic clues to take home. Prof. Speeckaert from Gent, will elaborate on the use of dermoscopy in pigmentary disorders; prof. Kolivras will teach you some new tips and tricks in trichoscopy, and Prof. Lallas will do the same for inflammoscopy.

Our goal is to send you home with new dermoscopy knowledge to use in your daily practice. We will end the day with an interactive workshop (in English) , so you already get the flow of it.

We hope to welcome all of you on January 13th, 2023 in Gent!
Katrien Vossaert – President BDG
