Isabelle Hoorens

Isabelle Hoorens graduated as a medical doctor at the Ghent University in 2012. Afterwards she started her residency at the Department of Dermatology at the Ghent University Hospital.

In 2013 she began her PhD research together with Professor Lieve Brochez as her promoter. The title of her thesis was the preventive landscape of skin cancer, a clinical and health economical analysis. Her research focused mainly on the topic of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer epidemiology, prevention, screening, health economics and dermoscopy.

After a successful PhD defense in September 2016 she restarted as a full time clinical resident for 6 months in a smaller general hospital, and has afterwards returned to the Ghent University Hospital to graduate as a dermatologist in July 2018.
